30DPC Day 28

Day 28: A picture of something you're afraid of

Of all the things to be afraid of, I hate ladders. I will stand on the observation deck of a skyscraper. I'll climb up a mountain. But, you ask me to get 4-10 feet off the ground? Oh, hell no! My poor husband, I'm usually the most readily available pair of helping hands, but if he's got to do anything on a roof--he's screwed.

Being a DIYer, and having a carpenter husband, these nasty things
are a necessary evil.

If you ever hear a story about a lady that died from a sprained ankle when she fell off a ladder,
that would be me. Until then,

30DPC Day 27

Day 27: A picture of yourself and a family member

Since I'm usually the one behind the camera, about the only person I have pictures with is the Hubbs.

I love him, anyway.

30DPC Day 26

Day 26: A picture of something that means a lot to you.

My life pretty much revolves around these little ladies....

Medium, Large, & Small--princesses one and all.

30DPC Day 25

Day 25: A picture of your day

It's finally nice enough that I can send my kids outside to play without being bundled within an inch of their lives. So what do they do? Bury each other in the rock in the driveway. Some people's kids, sheesh!

My loves, covered in dirt and springtime.

Hope you're enjoying your springtime, too!

30 DPC Day 24

Day 24: A picture of something you wish you could change

I adore my South Carolina family. I wish that we lived closer to each other, so we could visit all the time. But, alas, such is not so. They love the South, the Hubbs loves Iowa, and I'm stuck in the middle.

We love the besties!

30DPC Day 23

Day 23: A picture of your favorite book

I don't have a favorite book. I couldn't possibly choose a favorite book. I have favorite authors (Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Nicholas Sparks, Susan Mallery to name a few), but to narrow it down to just one book? Impossible. Instead, here is the book that was picked for my book club's May read:

Interested? Buy it here.

From the snippets I've read, and what I've heard from other readers, it should be pretty good.
I can't wait to start!

30DPC Day 22

Day 22: A picture of something you wish you were better at.

A lot of people don't know this about me, but I have horrible anxiety. Any situation that may lead to some kind of confrontation makes my heart race. If possible, I'll avoid the stress. I don't even like to call into the local radio station classified show. I'm awful during a fight with the Hubbs--he thinks I'm ignoring him, when I'm really just trying to breathe and not bawl my eyes out. My worst anxiety attack happened this winter. I almost didn't board the plane to visit ML, because I was scared shitless by the idea of traveling alone. It's something I struggle with everyday. (I don't take any anti-anxiety drugs, because the idea of them scares me, too.)

That's me on the right, trying to control my sweating, remembering to breathe,
and trying not to sound like a babbling idiot at an award presentation in 2010.

I wish I were better at handling my anxiety. Do you have something you wish you were better at?
I wanna know.

30DPC Day 21

Day 21: A picture of something you wish you could forget

I'm one of those people that believes we are shaped by our past experiences. I wouldn't be who I am today, if not for all the choices I've made leading up to now. So, since there isn't anything I'd like to forget, here's a picture of our family.

30DPC Day 20

Day 20: A picture of somewhere you'd like to travel.

I want to visit the old country. My mother is from Laos, but I was born in Thailand. I would love to go "home" someday.

Thai lantern festival--looks amazing

30DPC Day 19

Day 19: A picture of a letter you received

I had to cheat on this one, because I don't even remember the last time I got an actual letter in the mail. It's kind of sad that the art of the written letter has gone the way of the VHS, although we do still receive invitations, thank yous, and cards.

So in lieu of a letter, I took a photo of a poem I wrote last month instead. I hope you can read my handwriting.

30DPC Day 18

Day 18: A picture of your biggest insecurity

One of the things that plagues me is my weight. I love food. I love to eat and cook. The unfortunate side-effect of my love of food is, I'm overweight. Scratch that--I'm obese. And because of that I don't like the way I look. I have many insecurities, but I think my weight is the worst.

The hubbs, of course, looks hott. Me?
Not so much.

Excited to say I started rocking the Insanity to, hopefully, fix this problem.

30DPC Day 17

Day 17: A picture of something that has had a huge impact on your life recently.

Two words: Mother Nature. I just want some Spring. I want to plant flowers. I want to walk my old, arthritic dog. I want to send my kids outside when they get on my nerves. Is that too much to ask?

Snow in spring makes me sad.

I hope we get better weather soon. Until then,
Happy Snapping!

30DPC Day 16

Day 16: A picture of someone that inspires you

With the kids, the television shows we don't understand, and the various aches and pains, sometimes the Hubbs and I feel older than we really are. Especially during those late nights when I'm banging my head against the keyboard and drowning my writer's block with wine and chocolate. I start to think that I'm too old to be starting out all over again. I'm too old to start writing. I'm too old to make a career of this.

Then I remember this woman: Nola Ochs, who graduated from college at the age of 95. If she can do that, then I can do this.

you are never too old to achieve your dreams

30DPC Day 15

Day 15: A picture of something you want to do before you die

I have an entire bucket list of things I want to do, but my husband only has one item on his list. It also happens to be on my list. We'd both like to see the Northern Lights. I think this sounds like something we need to make happen!

Isn't that amazing?!

What is the #1 thing on your bucket list? Comment below, I want to know!

30DPC Day 14

Day 14: A picture of someone you could never imagine your life without.

Without a doubt that person is my husband. My Papi. The father of my children. The rock I cling to when life's waves threaten to knock me over. My protector. My sugar daddy. Defender of my honor. Most importantly, he's the little boy that watches my colorful kite flying high & holds tightly to the string, keeping me securely grounded.

30DPC Day 13

Day 13: A picture of your favorite band or artist

I am obsessed with Michael Bublé. You know that list you make as a joke? The hall pass list? Well, he's at the top of my list. (The Hubbs is well aware that if it were a possibility, I would totally leave him for this man.) Can you blame me? He's a hottie and he can sing. SWOON!

yum!

I'm going to wipe the drool off my face now,
Happy Snapping!

30DPC Day 12

Day 12: A picture of something you love

When I'm staring at my computer screen, and I'm stuck on some vital scene that I'm writing, I'll turn to the right and open that top drawer. The one filled with pure happiness ... I love my candy drawer.

I may have a candy problem ...
